The National Jewish Assembly welcomes NUS decision to terminate contract of former NUS president Shaima Dallali

The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) commends the National Union of Students (NUS) for its decision to terminate the contract of former NUS President Shaima Dallali.

The appropriate and timely decision follows the findings of an independent investigation led by Rebecca Tuck KC over a five month-long period, that examined recent allegations as well as historic matters and broader culture within the NUS relating to antisemitism.

According to a statement published by the NUS on the matter, “Following the independent KC-led investigation into allegations of antisemitism, specifically into the then President Elect under the NUS Code of Conduct, an independent panel has found that significant breaches of NUS’ policies have taken place. As per this finding, we have terminated the President’s contract.”

The NJA has previously expressed support for the investigation and continues to follow the findings of the panel with interest.

The NJA hopes that the investigation will encourage the NUS to be more aware and vigilant against both classic and modern day antisemitism within the organisation, and take into serious consideration the concerns of Jewish students in the UK.
