The NJA rejects the call by the Jewish News for the Board of Deputies (BoD) to become involved in Israel’s internal politics. That is a matter for Israel’s electorate only.
Israel’s MKs listen to popular opinion and this acts as an effective control on legislation. Furthermore, measures that are passed and unpopular with the electorate can be overturned by the next Knesset. That is what democracy is all about.
