NJA Condemns The Muslim Vote and Independent Candidate Tanushka Marah for Targeting Pro-Israel MPs

The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) strongly condemns The Muslim Vote and independent candidate Tanushka Marah for their targeted campaign against MPs who have expressed support for Israel. This tactic is not only divisive but also undermines the democratic values that our society cherishes.

The Muslim Vote’s recent statement supporting certain Labour candidates based on their stance on Israel is a blatant attempt to influence the electoral process through the lens of a single, highly contentious issue. The call to support candidates who advocate for a ceasefire in Gaza, while vilifying those who support Israel, fosters an environment of hostility and polarisation.

Tanushka Marah’s remarks, branding Labour MPs who abstained from the ceasefire vote as complicit in genocide, are inflammatory and unfounded. Such rhetoric only serves to deepen divisions within the community and does nothing to foster a constructive dialogue on the complex and nuanced issues at hand.

NJA Chairman Gary Mond commented, “It is deeply concerning to see the electoral process being manipulated in this manner. The targeting of MPs for their support of Israel is an affront to democratic principles and to the notion of fair and open debate. We must reject any attempts to vilify individuals based on their stance on Israel and focus on promoting a balanced and respectful discourse.”

The NJA stands firmly against any form of antisemitism and the politicisation of international conflicts for electoral gain. The NJA urges all political actors and organisations to engage in respectful and constructive dialogue, rather than resorting to divisive tactics that undermine our democratic values.

The actions of The Muslim Vote and Tanushka Marah highlight a disturbing trend of using misinformation and inflammatory rhetoric to sway public opinion. It is imperative that we remain vigilant against such tactics and uphold the principles of fairness and integrity in our political process.
