The NJA is saddened by news that Israeli border police Sgt. Asil Suead has succumbed to his injuries and passed away at hospital yesterday evening.
On the evening of February 13, Sgt. Asil Suead and a civilian security guard conducted a routine security check on a bus that had arrived at the Shuafat crossing.
During the inspection, a Palestinian terrorist pulled out a knife and carried out a stabbing attack directed at Sgt. Asil Suead. The civilian security guard fired at the Palestinian terrorist in order to neutralize him and accidentally also hit Sgt. Asil Suead. The terrorist was arrested.
Sgt. Asil Suead was 22 years old and a resident of Hussniyya. He enlisted in the border police in March 2019 for his mandatory service and served in the same company.
The NJA prays for Sgt. Asil Suead and his loved ones at this time, and thanks him for his service to upholding the safety and security of Israel. The NJA affirms Israeli’s right to defend itself against terrorism in all its forms.
