NJA Commends UK-Israel National Security Dialogue for Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) extends its commendation to the governments of the United Kingdom and Israel for hosting a momentous national security dialogue in Jerusalem. This landmark strategic meeting, held on July 18, 2023, centred on addressing pressing security issues, including the Iranian threat, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the Palestinian arena.

Led by Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi and his British counterpart Sir Tim Barrow, this inaugural dialogue exemplifies the deep friendship and strategic partnership between Israel and the UK. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s presence at the meeting further emphasised the significance of this timely initiative in enhancing cooperation between the two nations.

The NJA expresses its hope that this dialogue will pave the way for a deeper and more robust bilateral security relationship between Israel and the UK. By fostering such open and constructive discussions, we believe both nations can collaboratively explore effective strategies to address shared security challenges and promote regional stability.

The NJA is deeply concerned over the lack of transparency from the FCDO about the amount and nature of its aid allocation to Palestinian entities and hopes that this dialogue will foster greater clarity and accountability in aid distribution. The NJA remains committed to promoting dialogue that seeks to strengthen security ties and advance the cause of peace in the region.

As a core pillar of the NJA’s work, the organisation strives to support UK-Israel relations and will continues to support efforts that lead to a safer and more secure future for both Israel, the UK, and the British Jewish community. The NJA looks forward to witnessing the positive outcomes that emerge from this important dialogue.
