The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) was honoured to hold an exclusive Zoom event featuring Rabbi Leo Dee, renowned author, and Special Envoy for Social Initiatives appointed by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event, titled “Perspectives on War,” provided a unique opportunity for attendees to gain insights into the complex challenges facing Israel and the Jewish people in the aftermath of recent tragic events.
Earlier this year, Rabbi Dee and his family endured an unimaginable tragedy when his wife Lucy and daughters Maia and Rina were brutally murdered in a Palestinian terrorist attack during Pesach/Passover. This heart-wrenching loss only strengthened Rabbi Dee’s resolve to promote understanding and address the critical issues surrounding conflict and violence in the region.
At this present time, when Israel and the Jewish world grapple with the aftermath of the horrific terrorist attacks launched by Hamas terrorists against Israel, and commensurate rise in antisemitism worldwide, Rabbi Dee offered words of hope. He reminded us that even in the darkest of times, there is the potential for resilience, healing, and a brighter future.
“Israel is on the frontlines of fighting against global militant jihad,” Rabbi Dee stated to the 80 guests in attendance. His perspective, shaped by personal tragedy and his role as a Special Envoy for Social Initiatives, offered a unique and invaluable insight into the ongoing challenges faced by Israel and its people.
The NJA believes in fostering meaningful discussions that promote understanding, peace, and resilience in the face of adversity. This exclusive event provided attendees with a platform to engage with Rabbi Dee, explore the multifaceted dimensions of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, the global challenges of militant jihad, the complicity of media in fomenting antisemitism and undermining support for Israel, and the Jewish impact on modernity, all while embracing the hope that lay within.
