National Jewish Assembly Condemns David Miller’s Targeting of Jewish Schools in the UK

The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) expresses its profound outrage and condemnation in the strongest terms against David Miller, an academic who has shamefully targeted Jewish schools in the UK in a recent post on X, dated March 27, 2024.

In his reprehensible post, Miller alleges, “I am afraid it’s not just in ‘Israel’ that Jewish kids are being radicalised in the racist Ideology of Zionism. It’s happening in the UK too.” He maliciously attempts to demonise Jewish schools by falsely portraying them as indoctrination centres for Zionism, branding them as a threat to national security and accusing them of perpetrating child abuse.

NJA Chairman Gary Mond said, “In targeting Jewish schools with his baseless accusations and incendiary rhetoric, David Miller has crossed a line of decency and integrity. His unfounded allegations not only perpetuate harmful stereotypes but also pose a direct threat to the safety and well-being of Jewish students. We vehemently denounce Miller’s actions and stand united in condemning all forms of anti-Semitism.”

Miller’s baseless accusations and inflammatory rhetoric are not only grossly inaccurate but also deeply harmful to the Jewish community. His attempt to conflate Jewish identity and education with extremist ideologies is dangerous and unacceptable.

The NJA is appalled by Miller’s specific targeting of Jewish schools in various cities across the UK:

  • Miller singles out a primary school in Hackney, falsely claiming it openly declares itself as “Zionist” and accuses it of promoting the Hatikvah, Israel’s national anthem, as an act of “child abuse.”
  • He maligns a primary school in Manchester for identifying as “Zionist” and seeks to vilify it solely based on its support for the State of Israel
  • Miller attacks a secondary school in Brent for honouring Jewish historical figures and fostering connections with Israel, falsely labelling it as promoting “racist settler colonial ideologies.”
  • He disgracefully targets a Jewish primary school in Birmingham, falsely insinuating that Muslim students are being coerced into singing the Hatikvah, thereby attempting to stoke tensions between Muslim and Jewish communities.

The NJA vehemently rejects Miller’s anti-Semitic tirade and stands in solidarity with Jewish schools and communities across the UK. Jewish schools play a vital role in providing quality education while nurturing Jewish identity and values, of which Zionism is an inalienable facet, in a safe and inclusive environment.
