The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) vehemently condemns Charlotte Church for her recent actions, which include leading a 100-strong choir in an anti-Israel chant and spreading hateful propaganda on social media.
Church’s endorsement of the antisemitic slogan “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free” is obviously antisemitic and genocidal in intent, as it constitutes a dangerous call for the destruction of Israel and the displacement and destruction of its Jewish population.
The NJA views Church’s stunt, which took place at Bedwas Workmen’s Hall in Caerphilly county, as a gross display of hostility towards Israel and its people. By associating herself with Palestine Solidarity Cymru and promoting such inflammatory rhetoric, Church has aligned herself with groups that seek to delegitimise and ultimately erase the Jewish state.
Furthermore, Church’s endorsement of blood libels against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), as evidenced by her reposting of a malicious image on social media, is both reprehensible and baseless. Specifically, Church reposted an image on X from user “@TheSlowFactory” promoting a blood libel that the Israel Defence Force has deliberately made and placed explosives disguised as toys and food cans in order to kill children. Spreading false accusations of violence and malice against Israeli forces only serves to perpetuate harmful stereotypes and fan the flames of hatred.
The NJA also expresses grave concern over Church’s advocacy for school strikes in support of Gaza, which she has actively promoted on social media. Such actions not only contribute to the legitimisation of Hamas in its acts of terror against Israel, but also disregard the complex realities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including the role of terrorist organisations like Hamas in perpetuating violence and suffering.
In light of these disturbing revelations, the NJA calls on Charlotte Church to retract her endorsement of antisemitic slogans and to cease spreading patently false propaganda against Israel, especially that which is a modern day blood libel.
