The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) welcomes the long-overdue decision to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation following its disgraceful break-in and sabotage of RAF Brize Norton. This group has for years operated as a de facto foreign proxy, targeting UK interests on behalf of a radicalised anti-Israel agenda. Its vandalism of military aircraft at the UK’s largest airbase was not protest – it was sabotage with clear political intent, designed to undermine Britain’s national security and to embolden the enemies of the West, Iran foremost among them.
NJA Chairman Gary Mond commented: “This move by the Home Secretary is both welcome and revealing. It confirms what we’ve said all along: the government already had the powers to ban violent, extremist groups – they just lacked the will. It’s frankly insulting that it took months of sabotage, vandalism and agitation for the UK to act against Palestine Action. The British public has been gaslit since October 7th, told time and again that nothing could be done, while groups with clear links to extremist movements have operated freely and without scrutiny.”
The NJA urges the Home Secretary to extend this decisive action to other similarly dangerous groups operating under the guise of activism. Organisations such as the International Solidarity Movement UK, Samidoun, and elements of the PSC have repeatedly platformed antisemites, glorified terrorism, and promoted antisemitic narratives under the banner of ‘liberation’.
Moreover, the NJA calls for a comprehensive audit of charities that have channelled funds to dubious and unaccountable Palestinian organisations or have repeatedly breached their charitable obligations by hosting known antisemites and justifying terror. The Charity Commission must no longer turn a blind eye to the rampant abuse of charitable status by pro-Hamas fronts operating in the UK.
This moment should be the beginning of a new, serious approach to domestic extremism. The threats we face are not abstract – they are coordinated, ideological and increasingly emboldened. The UK must stop tolerating those who wage psychological and political warfare against its Jewish community and its allies under the cover of “activism.”
