NJA Represented at European Jewish Association and European Jewish Community Centre Rosh Hashanah Reception in Brussels

The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) extends its congratulations to the European Jewish Association (EJA) and European Jewish Community Centre for the success of its annual Rosh Hashanah Reception.

The EJA is the largest federation of Jewish organizations and communities across Europe. The EJA aims to strengthen Jewish identity and expand Jewish activities in Europe and to defend Jewish interests in the continent.

The event brought together over 100 guests, including several dozen EU representatives and national delegations. Among the national delegations represented included the State of the Israel, the United States of America, Czechia, and Austria – as well as the State of Baden-Wurttemberg.

The NJA was represented at the reception by Heath Sloane, Press and Marketing Manager at the NJA.

Hosting the event, European Parliament Vice-President MEP Nicola Beer delivered opening remarks reflecting on the importance of the Jewish New Year and its call for renewal at a time when Europe is grappling with immense challenges – including the rise of antisemitism across the continent.

European Jewish Association President Rabbi Menachem Margolin gave a rousing speech on the significance of Rosh Hashana as the anniversary of the creation of man, and the collective call to action for humankind to work towards building a better world.

Speeches were also delivered by distinguished guests including Ambassador Haim Regev, Ambassador of Israel to the EU, H.E. Ambassador Edita Hrdá, Head of the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU, Ambassador Mark Gitenstein, United States Ambassador to the European Union, and Guy Bensoussan, Honorary Chairman of the EJCC.
