The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) stands in unwavering solidarity with the State of Israel during Operation Shield and Arrow, a crucial counter-terrorist operation aimed at safeguarding the security and well-being of Israeli citizens. As the situation in the region intensifies, it is imperative to condemn the actions of Palestinian terrorist factions and shed light on the ongoing threats faced by Israel.
Since the commencement of Operation Shield and Arrow on May 9, 2023, Israel has demonstrated its commitment to protecting its citizens and ensuring the safety of its borders. The IDF, in close coordination with the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), has struck 170 targets in the Gaza Strip, effectively targeting and eliminating senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists responsible for the indiscriminate firing of rockets into Israeli territory.
The statistics speak for themselves: 194 rockets fired from Gaza fell short, posing an immediate risk to the lives of Gazans themselves, highlighting the reckless disregard for human life by the Palestinian terrorist factions. Additionally, Israel’s robust missile defence system, the Iron Dome, intercepted 260 rockets – a testament to Israel’s commitment to protecting its civilian population.
It is deeply disheartening by reports that one Israeli civilian has been killed in the current escalation. The NJA wishes to convey its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and prays for the recovery of the 16 Israeli civilians who have been injured thus far.
To date, a staggering 866 rockets have been fired towards Israel since the beginning of the Operation, endangering the lives of innocent civilians and disrupting the peace and stability of the region. The NJA condemns these actions in the strongest possible terms and calls for an end to the violence and provocation by Palestinian terrorist factions.
Israel has consistently demonstrated its commitment to peace and security, taking necessary measures to protect its citizens while making every effort to minimize civilian casualties. The NJA recognizes and supports Israel’s right to defend itself against acts of terror and aggression.
The NJA stand united in our condemnation of the actions of Palestinian terrorist factions, which only serve to perpetuate violence and hinder the prospects for lasting peace in the region. The NJA urges the UK government to unequivocally denounce these acts of terrorism and support Israel’s efforts to ensure the safety and security of its people.
