NJA Condemns Iranian Missile Attack on Israel and Stands in Solidarity with IDF in Southern Lebanon Operations

The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) condemns in the strongest terms the heinous missile attack launched by Iran against Israel on October 1, 2024, and commends Israel’s rapid and effective defense measures. The NJA stands in unwavering solidarity with Israel and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as they take necessary actions to safeguard their nation and dismantle Hezbollah’s terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon.

Iran’s attack on Israel, in which it fired 181 missiles at civilian areas, demonstrates a flagrant disregard for human life and international peace. Thanks to the advanced air defense systems of Israel, in coordination with the United States, the majority of these missiles were intercepted, preventing a large-scale tragedy. Despite the successful defense, the missile attack resulted in damage, injuries, and widespread panic, with almost 10 million Israelis seeking shelter in fear for their lives.

NJA Managing Director Steve Winston stated, “Iran’s aggressive actions are yet another example of its long-standing support for terrorism and hostility toward Israel. This brazen attack not only targets Israel but seeks to destabilise the region. The National Jewish Assembly stands resolutely with the IDF in their commitment to defend Israeli civilians and restore security. Iran’s hostile intentions will not break Israel’s spirit, nor will it deter the global Jewish community from standing together.”

The NJA also extends its full support to the IDF’s operations in southern Lebanon aimed at neutralising Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed terrorist organisation that has been relentlessly launching rockets and missiles into northern Israel. Since the conflict escalated, the towns along the Israeli border, like Kiryat Shmona, have suffered significant damage, and civilians have endured daily attacks, forcing many to flee their homes. Israel’s ground operations aim to dismantle Hezbollah’s military capabilities and restore a security buffer, allowing displaced Israelis to safely return to their homes.

In light of these events, the NJA calls for accurate international reporting on the conflict, highlighting the impact on Israeli civilians and the role of Hezbollah in using Lebanese civilians as human shields.

The NJA stands firmly with Israel and prays for the safety of the IDF, the people of Israel, and all who are affected by these acts of aggression. The NJA also urges the UK government to hold Iran accountable for its actions and join in supporting Israel’s right to self-defense.
