The National Jewish Assembly commends the European Jewish Association for Kristallnacht commemoration at Auschwitz-Birkenau

The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) commends the European Jewish Association (EJA) – to whom the NJA is affiliated – for organising a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau to commemorate the 84th anniversary of Kristallnacht – a major Nazi pogrom that took place on November 9-10, 1938.

From left to right: Dritan Abazović (Prime Minister of Montenegro), Oliver Várhelyi (Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement), Roberta Metsola (President of the European Parliament), Markéta Pekarová (President of Parliament of Czech Republic), Rabbi Menachem Margolin (Chairman of the European Jewish Association).

Conference attendees discussed measures to combat present-day anti-Semitism on the continent. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola urged everyone to visit the concentration camps in order to understand the atrocities that humanity is capable if committing.

The delegation also organised a symposium held the next day to discuss measures for combating the troubling increase of antisemitism across Europe and the importance of expanding antisemitism education in schools, social media and homes.

The NJA wishes the EJA continued success with its meaningful public outreach efforts.
