The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) expresses its profound disappointment and condemnation of Na’amod, a fringe leftist organisation that falsely claims to speak for the British Jewish community. Na’amod’s recent demonstration at Parliamentary Square in London, which garnered only a minuscule crowd, not only failed to represent the true sentiments of the Jewish community but also perpetuated damaging antisemitic stereotypes and rhetoric.
The NJA stands firmly against organisations that bring our community into disrepute by endorsing and amplifying the false and dangerous narratives propagated by Israel-haters and antisemites alike. Na’amod’s demonstration, held amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hamas, was tone-deaf and misinformed. It is deeply concerning that they chose to demand a ceasefire while ignoring the fact that Hamas continues to launch rockets at Israeli civilians and holds approximately 200 Israeli hostages in Gaza.
NJA Chairman Gary Mond stated, “Na’amod’s misguided demonstration not only fails to contribute to peace but also perpetuates the false narrative that Israel is solely responsible for the conflict.”
Mond continued, “It is crucial to remember that Israel, like any sovereign nation, has the right to defend itself against terrorist organisations like Hamas. After the atrocities that Hamas has committed against Israel, and its incitement of violence against Jews worldwide, Hamas must not be allowed to survive. We urge Na’amod to reevaluate its stance and actions, which do a disservice to both the British Jewish community and the cause of peace in the Middle East.”
