NJA Condemns Sick Indoctrination in Schools as Pupils Asked to ‘Fast for Gaza’

The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) expresses its outrage at the deeply inappropriate and divisive decision by George Green’s School in Tower Hamlets to organise a “collective fast for Gaza.” This initiative, cloaked in the language of solidarity and compassion, is a disturbing example of the creeping indoctrination fostered by militant pro-Palestine activists who have infiltrated the UK’s education system.

It is shocking that a school entrusted with the education and wellbeing of its students would promote an event that not only singles out a political issue but also creates an environment where pupils may feel alienated and stigmatised. Such actions are antithetical to the principles of inclusion and impartiality that schools should uphold.

NJA Chairman Gary Mond said: “This is not education – it is ideological grooming. By presenting a one-sided narrative, the school is fostering hostility and perpetuating a culture that normalises antisemitism under the guise of activism. Schools are becoming breeding grounds for radicalisation, and the government must act now to root out this sickness from our education system.”

The NJA also notes the troubling involvement of UNICEF in this initiative. While the plight of children in conflict zones deserves compassion, using schools as a platform for politically charged campaigns is inappropriate and divisive. The framing of the event, along with the selective focus on Gaza while ignoring the suffering caused by Hamas’s terror, underscores the imbalance and lack of critical thought being promoted in such spaces.

NJA Vice Chairman Laurence Julius added, “Schools must be inclusive places with no direct or indirect intimidation or bullying where all children feel comfortable. Schools must not allow the politicisation of primary school children – endorsing a biased narrative without context at a formative age.”

This incident is emblematic of a broader issue. Pro-Palestine activists have entrenched themselves in the UK’s education sector, grooming a generation of children into their toxic ideology. The NJA calls on the Department for Education and Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson to urgently investigate and address this blatant breach of impartiality. Schools must be safe spaces for all children, not battlegrounds for political agendas. The NJA has written to Phillipson to request a meeting about this issue.
