The National Jewish Assembly (NJA) stands in full solidarity with Israel as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intensify efforts to neutralise Hezbollah targets along the northern front. With Hezbollah having relentlessly bombarded Israeli communities in the north since the onset of the war, sparked by Hamas’s invasion on October 7, 2023, Israel has been compelled to launch numerous defensive operations, including the recent targeting of over 1,600 Hezbollah installations, including sites housing rockets, drones, and missiles.
We recognise the necessity of these actions to protect the lives of Israeli civilians who have endured constant rocket attacks for nearly a year. The recent escalation, including Hezbollah’s firing of hundred of rockets deep into Israeli territory, marks a significant threat to the safety of the entire region, extending as far south as Tel Aviv. Communities across northern Israel, including Haifa and the Galilee, have been under heavy bombardment, displacing tens of thousands of residents.
It must also be mentioned that over 60,000 Israeli civilians remain internally displaced within Israel, and are unable to return to their homes in the north of the country due to the dire threat posed by Hezbollah. The NJA admires the strength and resolve of the internally displaced Israelis, and sincerely hopes that they will be able to return to their communities and resume normal life soon.
In these trying times, we pray for the safety and strength of the brave men and women of the IDF as they work tirelessly to defend Israel’s northern front. Their mission is crucial, not only in neutralising Hezbollah’s threat but in safeguarding Israel’s sovereignty and ensuring the secure return of displaced families to their homes.
The NJA applauds the IDF’s commitment to protect civilian lives while doing everything possible to avoid further escalation. The NJA also expresses its concern for the innocent civilians in Lebanon who have been caught in the crossfire due to Hezbollah’s cynical and illegal use of civilian homes to store weapons.
Our thoughts are with the Israeli communities that have borne the brunt of this violent campaign and the IDF soldiers who are risking their lives to defend them. The NJA will continue to stand with Israel in this critical moment, advocating for the safety and security of Jews worldwide, while urging the international community to hold Hezbollah and its Iranian backers accountable for their ongoing aggression.
